Day 54: Celebrating my Dad!

I know that Thursday was my dad's actual birthday, but today we got together as a family for supper.  This included his one sister and her family, and my moms brother.  It was, once again, an amazing supper put on by the love of his life, my mom!

So I decided that today, would be top 5 memories of my dad (I know there are way more, but do want to get some sleep so I will narrow it down to 5)

1.  Sitting on the stairs to our basement when I was younger eating oysters.  Why on the stairs you ask?  Mom hates seafood anything...this includes oysters.  So dad and I would spare her!
2.  In grade 3 and 4 we had a note book at school that weekly we had to write our parents and they would write us back.  It was always so special to me when dad would take the time and write in it to me.
3.  Many, many hours sitting in the combine with dad.  One particular memory is singing 'Oh Canada' every time we seen the flag that was up on a oil site.  I am sure dad was sick of it...but he was a trooper!
4.  Family trips...My brother and sister will remember this (you thought I was going to bring up the Edmonton trip...didn't you?!?) but if one of us was acting up...or getting a little annoying...which was never me...lol..his hand would somehow find our knee and he knew right where to squeeze that would make you sit still.
5.  Dad has always been hero...and will continue to be.  There are many moments that his has been true for.  One we just talked about the other day was when I went to mow my grass at my old place...and what did I see...a dead bird!  I was not touching the thing.  And I wasn't going to finish mowing grass.  Dad came into town and got rid of the bird for me.  This doesn't count all the locked keys, house fixing,  or shovelling he has done for me.

So as you can read, my dad, he is pretty amazing man.  I am truly blessed that God gave me the parents that he did.  Through all my lives ups and downs...they have stood firm beside me.  Praying and loving me.

Thank you dad for being you!!

**On a side note, I have hit year end with work...so this blog will continue once that craziness is over.  I will say it will be about a 3 week break...I vote sleep vs blogging at this point :)

Day 53: Praise 24

Tonight I was able to enjoy a couple of hours of Praise 24.  What is Praise 24 you ask?  It is various of churches in Grande Prairie that come together to praise and worship God for 24 hours straight!  It is amazing and so nice to expience so many different forms of worship.  In the end, we are all praising the same God.  So this is nice to share in as well.

I am going to leave you with one of my favorite worship songs.

Jesus, all for Jesus (by Robin Mark):

Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.
Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands.
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into Your hands.

For it's only in Your will that I am free,
For it's only in Your will that I am free,
Jesus, all for Jesus,
All I am and have and ever hope to be.

Day 52: Lunch Box on a diet!

Today we got to celebrate my dad...and the fact that he turned another year young.  As a family we went out for a amazing supper and got to spend some time visiting.

We got dad a gift card from Canadian Tire.  My sister found a really cute gift card holder!  A little lunch box.  We decided that this would be the lunch box one would use on a diet.  That way you can just put a picture of the food that you really wish that you could have.

Happy Birthday Dad!!!  Hope you had a great day and may God continue to bless you today and all your tomorrows!!

Day 51: Umm, is that for us??

Last week my co-worker LM and I got to head to Westlock for a team meeting.  It was great putting faces with the phone voices we often hear.

We were also able to celebrate our managers work time with AHS.  We went out for a nice lunch.  Before we started to eat, our newest manager had a nice flower for her....however our old manager didn't really like that kind of attention.  We all egg her on...you have to put it on.  It is beautiful!  That is awesome!  So special.

That is when I learnt a lesson.

Out comes two more flower arrangements.  Again, beautiful!  Apparently us Grande Prairie people coming to meet the team was special and they wanted to welcome us.  So we to had to to put the flower on.  Now, don't get me wrong, it was special, very special.  But there are times when attention is not something I seek.  This was the case this day.  I am sure I turned as red as LM did when we got it.

Again, another memory from a great little trip.

Day 45: Did You Notice!

First a side note...did you notice I forgot day 45?  Yeah, I didn't either!  But thanks to the few of you that let me know!

Today's photo I couldn't do in black and white...it had to be colour!  Doesn't it remind you of summer or spring at least?  I had decided to slice and dice the strawberries and kiwi so it is ready for my lunches or snacks.  I don't know why I don't prep like this more often...It is handy and well...just looks so good!!!

Day 50: Forever

This past weekend I was able to witness a good friend get married.  It is always special to be apart of the friends/families big day as they proclaim their love for each other.

As a little girl, I dreamt about my perfect wedding.  The colors, the music, the dress, the flowers, and the church.  The little thing missing was the man God has for me.

As I get older and life happens, I have realised that all the little items I thought as important before aren't really what is going to make my wedding day special.  Sure, they will make the day nice.  But in the end, I just want to know that as I walk down the isle looking into this man's eyes God has chosen for me,  that this is my forever....my happily ever after forever!  And no matter what color of flowers or what songs get played that day, that we are going to promise to stand beside each other...Even if some of our blessings come in raindrops.

Day 49:  My New Do!

So this is the finished product of all the hair that got left on the floor.  I rather like it.  Still working at getting the correct shampoo to hair ratio.  With my hair this short and light it sure brings out some crazy curls.  But I LOVE it!!!

Day 48: Time for a change

This past week I got my hair cut...not a trim, a cut!

I would say that my hair was mid way down my back and cut it to just below my shoulders.  And I LOVE it!  It is so light and freeing!

Day 47: I Am Back!!!

After a week of taking a little break from blogging...I am back!  Did ya miss me?!?

This past week was filled with many adventures.  I was able to head to Westlock to meet the team that I work on.  I was also able to hang with a great couple of friends in Edmonton.  This next week I will have little stories that happened during the trip.

One of the fun things to make this trip memorable was these wonderful temporary tattoos!  Who could know a fake 'stash could add hours of entertainment.  Not to mention the various photo opportunities.  These will be shared the next couple of days!

Day 46: Are We Ready?

Tomorrow I will be seeing this view for a bit...off to Westlock for work.  Then to Edmonton for a weekend of fun.

I know I said I would do a picture a day...but I am not sure about my internet access along the way.  If I have access...You will see some...If not, you will a few days at one time.

Day 44:  Love is Patient

One of my favorite Bible passages.  Here is one of my treasured wall hangings.

1 Corinthians 13:
If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.

CB - Did you say Cougar
Tasha - NO!! COOPER!!...you even help me come up with Cooper!
RV - Cooper the Cougar....raahhaww!

Day 42:  Fun Times!!!

While unpacking some of my sisters items...this card holder came out.  I decided that it would make a good hat.  And Mom was a good team player.

Mom did decide that if Prince Harry and I were to get married...we all know I like a bad boy...this would be the head piece that she would wear.  She would want to out do Kate!  We could even jazz it up with some pictures or something like that!!

Thanks for being a great team player Mom!!

Day 41: Hi Ho...Hi Ho...It's off to work we go!!!

Today we helped our sister and brother in law move into their new place.  With cleaning and moving boxes...Monday we move their bigger items.

I caught a rare moment of my brother running a rug shampooer!!! So, I had to blog about it!!

I am sure this home will bring my sis and bro-in-law lots of great moments...And that God will continue to guide them and bless them here!!!

Day 40: Mmmm Watermelon!

Doesn't watermelon remind you of summer.  The other day I bought a little watermelon...knowing it could be a risk.  The risk paid off!  It was soooo good, so juice, just as I remembered it!!  Bring on summer...so I can enjoy this fruit more often!!
